Resource list for navigating church hurt & harm

Many of us have experienced some form of church hurt or harm. Whether through painful words spoken, trust betrayed, agreements that were not honored, or an outright rejection of our personhood - wounds experienced within a faith community can be uniquely painful. We enter these communities with a deep hope for connection, belonging, and mutual care, often holding high expectations for the people with whom we share our faith and spiritual journey.
At Becoming Church, we recognize our own limitations and brokenness, and we understand that ruptures in relationships are inevitable. No individual or community perfectly lives up to its values or aspirations. Yet, as a community of fellow sojourners, our commitment extends beyond acknowledging harm. Our faith calls us to the intentional work of repair, reconciliation, and restoration.
As we continue our own journey toward healing and repair, we have found the following resources helpful in navigating this process. We share them in the hope that they may offer support, insight, and encouragement to others seeking healing and a path toward restoration.
